Dr. Mohinder P. Gupta, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P., Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Diplomate in Subspecialty of Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Gupta is a Staff Cardiologist at Long Island Jewish Medical Center,
New Hyde Park, N.Y., an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center & School of Medicine, Bronx, N.Y., Attending Physician at Flushing Hospital Medical Center, NY, and Physician of Cardiology
and Internal Medicine at his private practice in Queens Village, New York.

Dr. Gupta’s professional affiliation began in 1971 as a member of the American Heart Association, then in 1982 as a Fellow at the American College of Cardiology, and later 1987 as a Fellow at the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Gupta became a member of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin- Queens & Long Island Chapter (AAPI-QLI) in 1999. His active engagement in AAPI-QLI led to his role as official Secretary of AAPIQLI
in 2001. A year later, became the Vice President of AAPI-QLI, then President-Elect in 2003, and then Official President of AAPI-QLI in 2004. In 2005, he joined the Board of Trustees of AAPI-QLI and continues to participate to this day. During his presidency, he founded the Charitable Chapter of AAPI-QLI. He became interested in many aspects of charitable work, however invested the most time in the Interfaith Nutrition Network, and ROTA Care which
provides free medical services to low income and undocumented families, shelter for the homeless, daily meals from its soup kitchens, as well as articles for personal needs. Additionally, during Dr. Gupta’s time as president, he arranged Continual Medical Education meetings. A remarkable legacy of his tenure as president is an increase in AAPI-QLI membership from 75 to over 450.

Dr. Gupta was born in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, India. As a young man, Mohinder’s father, a lawyer of the Ministry of India, cultivated his interest in medicine. He was one of the first graduates of medicine as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the Government Medical College of Srinagar. He finished his internship at The Government Hospital at Srinagar, India and later his residency in Internal Medicine & Surgery at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, India. Dr. Gupta immigrated to the United States where he began his rotating internship at Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, New York his first-year residency in Internal Medicine at Misericordia Hospital (Bronx), and second year residency in Internal Medicine at Queens Hospital Center, LIJ Medical Center (New Hyde Park). He became Director of Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Triboro Hospital (LIJ-Queens Complex) until 1979 when he decided to pursue his private practice. During his private practice, he also became Chief of Cardiology at St. Joseph Hospital Queens (Catholic Medical Center). After leaving St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dr. Gupta became Chief of Cardiology at Flushing Medical Center for two years. Since then he has devoted his time in full-time private practice in cardiology with his son, Rakesh, in their Queens Village office. Throughout his training, Dr. Gupta has also published in numerous articles in the field of cardiology.

Mohinder and his wife Sol have been married for 50 years and have two children, Vivian and Rakesh. Rakesh is married to Sumi Hagiwara-Gupta for 16 years and have two children, Mira and Ken.
