Dr. Pravin C. Singhal
Pravin C. Singhal, MD, is currently professor of Medicine at Hofstra North Shore LIJ Medical School, New York. He is also an investigator at the center of excellence for immunology, Feinstein Institute for Medical Research. He is also Director of Renal Molecular Research Laboratory and Director of Academic Affairs, Division of Kidney Diseases and Hypertension, North Shore LIJ Health System, New York. He is a senior investigator at the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD. Currently, he is also Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Nephrology and Renovascular Disease.
He graduated from Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner, Rajasthan in 1968. He joined the faculty of Postgraduate Institute of Medical Research and Education, Chandigarh in 1975 after completion of his fellowship in Nephrology. He spent one year in Harvard Medical School as a senior resident in Medicine and then joined Albert Einstein college of Medicine in 1983. He moved to Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1986 and was appointed as Chief of Nephrology at Queens General Hospital. He became chief of Nephrology at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and was also promoted to Professor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1994. He became Chief, of unified Nephrology Divisions of North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1999. He has been funded by NIH for the last 25 years. He has participated in NIH study sections multiple times. He has published more than 265 publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals and has written several book chapters. He is in editorial boards of several professional journals. He has been a past President of New York Society of Nephrology and Rajasthan Medical College Alumni. He has been a founding member of the AAPI QLI and Society of Neuroimmune pharmacology.
Credit for his achievements goes a great extent to his wife, Aruna Gupta, who is an oncologist, practicing in long Island. His son Manu, had been a banker in the past and has started his own business recently.
